Are you maʻa?
Maʻalaea's Maui Mead, or "Maʻa Mead" for short, is Maui's first locally sourced and operated meadery. Bringing medieval refreshments to a modern world-- made with a Maui twist. Using ancient techniques, and a new-age taste, each batch is brewed with Aloha and Kokua.
"Maʻa", which means "accustomed"-- and "laea" which is a reddish color similar to the mountains of Haleakalā, is the bay in which this story begins. Located on the southern shores of Maui, the capitol island of the Hawaiian Kingdom-- the Maʻalaea family left their mark along with an entire Ahupuaʻa that is simply known to most as "the Pali", or "the Mountain."
